Birsa Munda International Airport IXR

The Birsa Munda International Airport is a public airport located in Ranchi, which is a city in the state of Jharkand in India. It is situated in the Hinoo locality, which is around 7 kilometres from the main city centre.

This airport only has one domestic terminal, and does not have any international flights. Once it was a small airport in previous years, but has seen a significant growth in air traffic over the past two years. According to statistics, the airport is used by almost 200,000 passengers in one year, which makes it one of the fastest growing airports in India.

Currently, the major carriers at this airport are Air India, Jet Airways, and Kingfisher Airlines. The domestic terminal has a capacity of almost 125 passengers. The airport is spread over an area of 526 acres and has 8855 feet long runway.

The government has planned an extension and renovation of the airport in order to increase its capacity. It is expected that a new terminal and runway will be built, and better facilities will be provided in the future.

Public Transport And Car Hire

Most taxis, busses, or auto rickshaws are used as local transport means. Prepaid taxis and rent-a-car booths are available at the airport as well. International car rental companies such as Avis and Hentz also provide services in the region.

Facilities

All the basic facilities that include bookstall, basic medical facilities and a first aid room, wheel chair assistance, snack bars, juice counters, coffee shops, and a post office are available at the airport. Tourist information booths are also located within the premises.
